Subject: No Specific Threat to Massachusetts Schools Identified, Authorities Responding Out of Caution
Receiver/Superintendent Jeffrey A. Villar and Chief of Police Shane Woodson would like to assure the public that there is no specific threat to Southbridge Public Schools, following a text message circulating in multiple states about an impending school shooting.
The Commonwealth Fusion Center is aware of the text message and is monitoring the situation. Authorities received notification of the text message at approximately 7:23 AM this morning and have been in constant contact with school officials over this suspected hoax.
The decision to share this information has been made out of an abundance of caution. Villar and Woodson emphasize that there is currently no indication of any specific threat to Massachusetts schools.
Should any further information become available, authorities will immediately notify school staff and parents.

El Commonwealth Fusion Center está al tanto del mensaje de texto y está monitoreando la situación. Las autoridades recibieron la notificación del mensaje de texto aproximadamente a las 7:23 a. m. de esta mañana y han estado en contacto constante con los funcionarios escolares sobre este supuesto engaño.
La decisión de compartir esta información se tomó por precaución. Villar y Woodson enfatizan que actualmente no hay indicios de ninguna amenaza específica para las escuelas de Massachusetts.
En caso de que haya más información disponible, las autoridades notificarán de inmediato al personal de la escuela y a los padres.
